Cheers to the freakin' weekend (3 more days to go:))

Hola, Bon Día

It has been a while since my last post. I have to apologise for not updating any photos of Barcelona at all (Shame on me). The last couple of weeks have gone by in no time, I cannot believe it that I am living in Barcelona for almost two months now. I am having such a great time!
Last post I told you about me going home for Carnaval to see my baby brother being prince of carnaval. It was fucking amazing!!! I never ever ever saw anyone enjoying Carnaval as much as he did. He was glowing and enjoying every single second of it. It felt so good that I was also part of it IRL and not just by seeing the photos. I have to thank my mummy(second one;p) for flying me over:)). As much fun as I had during Carnaval I also enjoying being home, with my mum, dad and my little (not so little anymore I am afraid he has grown even taller than me!) brother. Saturday night we relaxed a bit and did gourmet (cooking with those little pans like fondue) it was deliciousssss!!
After coming back to BCN. We decided that it was time to do some sightseeing, the weekends before we did some shopping etc but you can go shopping anywhere after all but Camp Nou is not everywhere, so that is what we visited. My boyfriend is a huge fan of footh ball but he does not have one specific club to cheer for (at least that is what I understand out of his stories) although like almost every little boy out there they have a special thing for the big clubs or just for FC Barcelona. I think this has something to do with them winning a lot and Johan Cruijf being accountable for the winning part in the history of the club.
It is a pity that work is consuming so much time, hi-hi. I wish we had some more free time to do some fun stuff, shopping, enjoying the gorgeous weather and doing some sightseeing. The weekend after our Camp Nou visit we expected to have another great weekend with lovely weather but we were wrong. Apparently we did not deserve it, well thank you:((. That Saturday is was raining fucking cats and dogs, no way that this is what you call 'normal rain', Crazy showers! We did not want to stay in all day so we decided to do some shopping. Bad idea in this kind of weather, especially when they are putting your new clothes in paper bags (Uh hello it is raining outside?). The streets in Barcelona were covered by water and my Uggs were drenched (which leaves me still with some ugly stains in them:((( ). By that time we decided we had enough and went home. Next day we woke up and there was SUNSHINE ALL OVER. No signs at all of the crazy rainy weather the day before. We had a nice day walking at the beach and enjoying an ice cream in the sun.
And again; goodbye weekend, hello working week :(

As it is today Tuesday, 3 more days to go for yet another fantastic and too short weekend!
Since I promised you the pictures last time I will post them asap, pls check my fb for the time being :)

Have a nice Tuesday!

Welcome to Barcelona

My first few weeks in Barcelona have passed by in no time. I really adore the city. After living 5 months in Madrid it is good to be in a city that has a beach and is completely different, but also more chaotic!
Since last Monday I started working at GAH Langen servicio logistico y transporte, I am having a good time there and working my butt off .. Haha not really since I am just learning a lot and doing the overall planning, from which I am the one responsible of!! This is kind of a big deal, since it is not just a case that we are doing, but actually doing this in real life, a real company. The bad part of it all is that my days are just too short, I am working from 9-6 and I have to travel an hour before I get there. Since it is 20 minutes outside Barcelona by train and 40 minutes by bus to get to the place (after having a sightseeing tour through the industrial zone of Barbera del Valles) and I am living in the centre.
Last Thursday we moved all are stuff, after a few days of 'piso' hunting, to el barrio el borne. It is pretty much a 10 minutes walk from the beach and 10 minutes from las ramblas! The barrio we are living in is full of nice ambience, in the weekends there's music all over the place, nice bars/cafe's, and a lot of people!
I have to say that my life here is different than the one in Madrid and I really miss my room mate. We had such a fun time and a lot of  fun doing shopping, partying and going out for dinner (to Mac or BurgerKing). Since here in BCN I have to work every single day till 6, days are passing by in no time. There is still time to do some stuff, but it is different than just going to school ;). Although I like the fact of not having to study or do an exam for the next couple of months and coming home to my boyfriend instead of skyping him :).
It has been weird for me. I haven't been home for just two months and I am missing a lot there in Holland. My lovely cousin a.k.a my little brother has become 'Jeugdprins Brian I van het Bökkeriek' (Prince of Carnaval). It has been hard for me not to be present when I was shown for the first time as prince, although it feels a bit like I am really there. Since my lovely aunt is sending me pictures and videos of everything, so I can be a bit more closer. Sooooo since this has happened, I am going home for Carnaval!! Normally I am not really a huge celebrater of Carnaval (I always go skiing) but this year it is going to be different, I hope.
March 4th I am flying home till the 7th of March, to go at least to his reception and see him live being the prince. I am just sooo excited about it, not just about me seeing him live but also seeing the rest of my family and just being home for a couple of days.
This is it, for now. I probably should go back to work, but I will upload some pictures in the coming days.

xoxo

Bye MADRID Hello BARCELONA

Soooo in a few days it is finally going to happen:
I'M MOVING TO BARCELONAAAA!
After 6 months of studying in Madrid, I am ready to do my internship in Barcelona. I am leaving the gorgeous capital behind and I am ready for my new adventure in the City.
I am soo excited and not only because of  the beach, La Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas, Plaza de Catalunya, and the home of FC Barcelona but also because I am going together with my boyfriend!

As from the next couple of days I will be posting pictures and stories of my new adventure :).

Hasta luego,

xo Rachel
