Welcome to Barcelona

My first few weeks in Barcelona have passed by in no time. I really adore the city. After living 5 months in Madrid it is good to be in a city that has a beach and is completely different, but also more chaotic!
Since last Monday I started working at GAH Langen servicio logistico y transporte, I am having a good time there and working my butt off .. Haha not really since I am just learning a lot and doing the overall planning, from which I am the one responsible of!! This is kind of a big deal, since it is not just a case that we are doing, but actually doing this in real life, a real company. The bad part of it all is that my days are just too short, I am working from 9-6 and I have to travel an hour before I get there. Since it is 20 minutes outside Barcelona by train and 40 minutes by bus to get to the place (after having a sightseeing tour through the industrial zone of Barbera del Valles) and I am living in the centre.
Last Thursday we moved all are stuff, after a few days of 'piso' hunting, to el barrio el borne. It is pretty much a 10 minutes walk from the beach and 10 minutes from las ramblas! The barrio we are living in is full of nice ambience, in the weekends there's music all over the place, nice bars/cafe's, and a lot of people!
I have to say that my life here is different than the one in Madrid and I really miss my room mate. We had such a fun time and a lot of  fun doing shopping, partying and going out for dinner (to Mac or BurgerKing). Since here in BCN I have to work every single day till 6, days are passing by in no time. There is still time to do some stuff, but it is different than just going to school ;). Although I like the fact of not having to study or do an exam for the next couple of months and coming home to my boyfriend instead of skyping him :).
It has been weird for me. I haven't been home for just two months and I am missing a lot there in Holland. My lovely cousin a.k.a my little brother has become 'Jeugdprins Brian I van het Bökkeriek' (Prince of Carnaval). It has been hard for me not to be present when I was shown for the first time as prince, although it feels a bit like I am really there. Since my lovely aunt is sending me pictures and videos of everything, so I can be a bit more closer. Sooooo since this has happened, I am going home for Carnaval!! Normally I am not really a huge celebrater of Carnaval (I always go skiing) but this year it is going to be different, I hope.
March 4th I am flying home till the 7th of March, to go at least to his reception and see him live being the prince. I am just sooo excited about it, not just about me seeing him live but also seeing the rest of my family and just being home for a couple of days.
This is it, for now. I probably should go back to work, but I will upload some pictures in the coming days.

xoxo
Rachel
